"Solitude" has been inspired by the "Muted challenge" defined by Artfinder and Liquitex.
Muted would be here, that eerie silence which occurs during a change, when the day becomes the night, when the joy becomes sadness. Muted is that moment in between, very silent, very dim. It can be calmness before the storm...that could be that poem from Verlaine, In Muted Tones:
And, when night begins to fall
From the black oaks, darkening,
In the nightingale’s soft call
Our despair will, solemn, sing.
This series of paintings is called "Flirtation with reality".
It's an evocation of nature and countryside, an evocation of natural landscapes, I made the realism more obvious than in the other paintings, pushing further the borders between abstraction and realism.
The hues used are less flashy, less colour contrasted (the transitions between colours are more subtle), tinted with a touch of melancholy. I want it more romantic, with a lingering feeling of nostalgia, but in a poetic way.
MATERIALS:
"Solitude" is painted with acrylic on a stretched gallery-wrapped canvas (standard cotton), it is signed on the front, and will be delivered with a certificate of authenticity.
