This painting was created in 2010 and was a response to an image I saw of an American Soldier crying. I was drawn to this image because I wasn't sure whether the image was a true reflection of an event or a constructed image. This image formed one of many where I was looking into the way images were constructed and used in the media as forms of reportage/ propaganda and formed the basis of my MA at the time.
I like to think this image was real and reflected a feeling of the problems with the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, which we are still experiencing effects from them today with the group Isis.
