Birthday Boy Milko

Ladies and Gentlemen, here is the legendary Fabulous Burki, Lippe and Wassenaar Trio, performing live on stage at The Stamboom! There you have it, something different. My last landscape drawing was a welcome change from drawing female forms, this is a special. On no one’s order by the way. For Milko Lippe, a dear friend of mine, who celebrates his birthday on September 3th. Hence, you will read this statement from September 4th on, although I wrote this statement on the 2nd. Hell, I even don’t know if he will like it. We will find out tomorrow.

Return to the Mechanical Pen

Last drawings all were done with my new Faber-Castell matt graphite pencils. However, this one I already had in my pouch since last June. That’s the fate of artists. We can get carry away on artistisc whims regularly. So it came to be I met new pencils and painted a lot of oils. I just had to find a reason (and time) to complete this one eventually. Milko’s birthday was the incentive. Kind of fun actually, to return to previous ways of hatching up paper. Me, my mechanical pen and hatching fit just like a glove again.

De Stamboom

I like bands playing live. I mean, sometimes I feel like a recluse were it not for the 80 odd students I cater every week. Besides that, often I feel like that working on canvases for ages without going out to have a ball. Last May 7th Milko and his friends performed at De Stamboom in The Hague. They put on a great show with oldies from the 1950s and 1960s. We are talking of old rock, baby! These scarce moments of relaxation times are way better than spending my time in front of the telly. You surely seriously want to check them out next time they hit town close to you.
