In this piece, I aimed to capture the warmth of a late summer sunrise
The firey cadmium orange and amber glow, across the cerulean blue sky as day breaks, is a striking palette.
The painting is slightly textured and glazed and catches the light, making the colours burst and glow.
My paintings are often inspired by my love and fascination with ever-changing skies and cloud formation. I try to capture the movement and mood of the skies and sea - Calm and dreamy, to dramatic and surreal.
The cadmium and cobalt tones, are developed by layering and lifting the paint, to find previous hues and tones laid beneath, building depth, movement and highlights.
