Spring is surely the most beloved season for a lot of people. Finally, after the cold long Winter, Nature wakes up and gives us colors, beautiful smell and astonishing flowers, one of them being the Cherry blossom. They are delicate flowers, ridden with soft petals that spread all over the tree almost like light butterflies. In Japan the Cherry tree is even considered sacred. Looking for some inspiration, I stumbled upon this beautiful photograph and I couldn't resist turning it into a drawing.
The technique is always the same: colored pencil on white Fabriano 220 gr paper.
This time around I used the Supracolor soft by Caran d'Ache because since their paste is softer, they help me achieve a more realistic fade very easily and at the same time they leave a lighter mark on the paper. I titled this artwork "Sogno di Primavera" ("Dreaming of Spring") because the blossoming branch pops out of the fading background, give the picture a dream-like feel.

Materials used:

Caran D'Ache colored pencils on 220grams smooth paper
