The triptych was created for the Chromatology course at the Academy of Fine Arts in Turin, and consists of three monochromes inspired by the universe of chemistry that I exploited as abstract metaphors to talk about society and integration.
The current socio-political situation of the Mediterranean area is the driving force behind this artwork, which contains direct references to this specific geographical area also through the choice of colors - all referring to key elements of the Mediterranean landscape and civilizations such as sea water, wine and olive oil.
The blue panel represents a texture inspired by the reflections that are drawn on the surface of the sea. Sea water is a solution in which the solid element dissolves in the liquid one, forming a unit in which it is impossible to distinguish separately the elements that compose it in their original shapes and characteristics. It is like wanting to hide, it is the search for integration even at the cost of giving up one's identity; the philosophy of going unnoticed.
The yellow panel is inspired by the phenomenon of emulsion, the suspension of drops of a hydrophobic liquid on water. On the contrary, this image recalls a strong resistance to homologation such as that carried out by closed ethnic minorities who refuse to conform to the rest of the society in which they live, keeping themselves afloat like droplets of oil in a tub full of water.
Finally, the third panel refers to the act of pouring red wine into a glass: following the fall from the original container, small amounts of air are dragged down by the liquid, and then released in the form of bubbles or foam. There is an idea of clash in this dynamic, which recalls the difficulties that often arise when two different cultures come into contact for the first time or find themselves having to share a common space.
