I had been watching these clever birds that seem to delight in showing off their acrobatic air displays but this particular herring gull looked quite menacing against the dramatic sky of a northern coastal town with the sole aim of stealing my chips!

I wanted to capture the drama & movement and the intimidation I felt as the gull flew over. I thought that this would be best depicted on a larger scale & would be perfectly suited to charcoal & pastel.

Professionally framed in a simple contemporary black frame with double mount and glazed with low reflective glass.

Materials used:

Charcoal & pastel on Strathmore 100% cotton traditional laid paper.
