Kingfisher is a very peculiar coloured bird. The family contains a big number of species widely distributed, mostly in the tropical regions of Africa, Asia and Oceania. Interestingly that the Pacific kingfishers, was venerated by the Polynesians, who believed it had control over the seas and waves.
Kingfishers feed on a wide variety of prey though they are most famous for hunting and eating fish.
For this reason I have depicted the bird holding a fishing hook in its beak, sort of highlighting and empowering its innate fishing abilities.
This little painting is one of the series “Mister Birdy” I work on at the moment. Alone or with its companion like Mr. Blue Jay, this painting can become a great wall decoration for a child's bedroom or summer veranda or even a living room near windows being surrounded by plants and flowers.
