Original artwork description:

Having not painted for a couple of weeks over the Christmas break, I eased my way back into the studio with some still life and borrowed my daughter's cactus. I played around with the composition and changed it several times before settling on placing the subject just left of the centre of the canvas. I had a spotlight on the cactus too. I used Michael Harding oil paints on a cotton canvas.
