Original artwork description:

“Slope To A Meadow” is part of a series of paintings that take original inspiration from the skies seen along the Sefton coastline in north west U.K. ‘Slope To A Meadow’ is an acrylic on canvas painting on a custom made frame stretcher 89cms height x 81cms wide. Living on the coast I get to see and enjoy many dramatic skies daily. This painting doesn’t attempt to replicate reality. Nature's purpose in relation to the visual arts is to provide stimulus not imitation. From its ceaseless urge to create springs all life, all movement and rhythm, time and light, colour and mood in short, all reality in form and thought. This painting captures the extreme changes in weather seen on the coast. The drama of the skies, the constantly changing light and the sheer power of wind and rain. It is a gestural expressionist painting combining thick impasto against layers of transparent glazed colour. I always reference the Fauvist artists Matisse, Vlaminck and Derain and the Impressionists, Monet, Pissarro and Vuillard together with modernists Gillian Ayres, David Hockney, Hans Hoffman, Howard Hodgkin and Patrick Heron. The painting is shipped in a robust custom made cardboard crate (same as those used to transport large screens). The painting is bubble wrapped to protect the canvas. Further wrapping is made with corrugated card. A wooden frame is placed inside the cardboard crate to preserve the structural strength of the packaging. Each painting is insured to its sale value. Shipping costs within the U.K. take into consideration weight and insurance. U.K. shipping costs for this artwork are £75
