Very soft muted palette throughout the image with restrained warmth from the late sunlight.

I remember the process making this picture really well. Arriving at the beach I was struggling to see what to shoot, but knew conditions were good. So I sat on a rock for 10 minutes or so just observing and working out what to include in a potential image. The passage of time helped because suddenly I saw what to do, where to place the camera and then it was a flurry of activity setting up the Ebony SU45 view camera with rear tilt and choosing filters to control the contrast for the Fuji Velvia sheet of film used for the picture. Having worked out the exposure, it was then a case of waiting patiently for the right sea state and position of incoming wave.
