Slash. Full point. One of a series of oversize A4 small abstracts exploring texture and the colour blends within the texture. Limiting the colour palette to reds and shades of black gives the painting impact and coherence. The base layer of the painting is neutral texture, then built up with glazes of acrylic. Finally swathes of thick oilpaints were applied with a spatula allowing colours to meld together when dragged across the canvas. Paul's inspiration of the series comes from the rustic and textured elaments of nature or man made objects claimed back by nature particularly viewed close up
