An original watercolor painting of a Philippine slum on the outskirts of the island of Mindanao.
In the spring of 2023, I made my first trip to the Philippines, and the slums of the island of Mindanao fascinated me as I approached the island by boat. The life of the poor (and not only) stunned me with its spontaneity, and its intimacy on display, and touched me to the depths of my soul with its creative approach to construction and love for the ocean. Small huts huddled together, people smiled and went about their daily routine: cleaning, fishing, washing, and cooking.
The two huts that are partially visible in the picture are different. They are like girlfriends who wandered far into a field and stopped to stare. Beyond them lie fields of rice, already harvested.

Today, for me it is a symbol of peace. I didn’t even understand then how much everything would change.
