Original artwork description:

I painted this in May 2021, just after my 64th birthday. It is hard to pass this milestone without thinking of the 1967 Beatles' song "When I'm Sixty Four", The piece is based on an 8 x 8 pattern of squares, like a chessboard. I play a lot of chess but not very well. Although the underlying pattern is discernible, the multiple layers of colour overlaying it camouflages it.

It is a large piece which would form a great centre piece in a room. It can be enjoyed at distances of several metres to a very close up. It is ready to hang.
