This oil painting is with a nostalgic look back at the sixties. It is quite detailed each element adds to the overall theme. The bird cage, plants and colours take you right there. I like the way there is a decorative feel to the shape of the bird cage and the painting behind adds to this. I was inspired to paint this after seeing the white of the bird cage against the brilliant red of the Amaryllis plant also the sunflowers add another touch od colour. I set up this still life gradually adding various artefacts like the doll from my past which meant a lot to me. The sunflowers are my favourite flower as I am influenced greatly by Van Gogh. This painting is already strung and ready to hang though a simple frame would enhance it.
