Original artwork description:

acrylic colour on thai handmade mulberry paper(kada sa) , deckled edge, 10 x 13.5 in., 25 x 34 cm
The painting is inspired by typical street scenes I see in Bangkok , I place I regularly return to.
Jatujak Weekend Market is a major attraction in Bangkok, Thailand… It is said to be the largest outdoor market in the world. It is certainly busy, crowded, dynamic, animated, gentle and friendly. I find the place very inspiring for painting ideas.
My focus here is on the body language, dining and resting activity, and the contrast with the background clothing shop, reflects well the nature of this market.
Here I use a traditional mulberry paper handmade in Thailand. It’s a parchment like paper, strong yet pliable. I have the paper made to this size to get the deckled edges which adds to the textural effect. My paper supplier has her shop at this market as well….
The close up picture is to get a feel for the texture and brush strokes of the painting. Then there’s the work in progress and me with the painting for perspective.

Interested to have your idea painted in this style? Maybe a storyboard collage from a recent travel, or a family portrait? Contact me.
Please note that you can purchase up to 3 paintings of this same size or smaller in the same 1 order and pay only 1 shipping fee.
About framing this painting.
When considering framing bear in mind to not cover up the deckled edges. This is one of the specialties of the painting, one of its charms. It is best displayed framed with a cut mat board around the painting so as not to cover the edges, thereby putting some space between the art and the glass and bringing depth to the framed art. It can also be framed simply with backing board and pressed with glass over the front without causing damage.
