Original artwork description:

One of my more Romantic paintings influenced by Victorian painters such as Waterhouse. A mermaid lies on a beach at low tide as the sky turns towards dusk (my favourite time of the day). She looks out to sea and notices a sailing ship in the distance - will they be her prey or will they sail by? The Evening Star incidentally can just be seen in the middle of the picture not far from the horizon.
