Tony Blair and George Bush were the two leaders who pushed for war in Iraq and justified it by claiming falsely that Iraq had nuclear weapons. The war and its sanctions have resulted in the death of approximately 500,000 children in Iraq. Tony Blair was knighted in 2022.

I wanted to create a painting in a realism style. I started by painting the expression on Tony Blair's face as this was the key to the painting. I wanted to show the pride that he had in receiving his knighthood and the absolute contempt for the child. The child is an Iraqi boy who like thousands of other Iraqi children have lived their entire lives with suffering and fear mainly manufactured by the west. The Knighthood medal can be seen on Tony Blair as he wraps his arm around the injured Iraqi boy as he smiles for the camera and a small flag of the USA can be seen on his jacket.

My portrait style is hyperrealism with a message that screams silently.
