‘An explosion of colour’
Sion was a two stage process. I love how the dual layer and technique work to create an interesting ‘2 in 1’ painting. First I took different shades of grey to create the background. A fairly neutral base for the muti-coloured top layer. Secondly I took my favourite rainbow colours, in a pastel shade to create the spin layer over the top. I usually use more vivid colours, but am pleased with how ‘calm’ these colours feel, whilst still making an impact.
I used an circular canvas, for this piece - I enjoy creating work on canvases of different sizes and shapes and feel that spin paintings work best with circular canvases. This piece is unique and eye-catching.
As with each of my pieces, Sion is named after one of my rainbow sheep (marrying my two passions).
