The work “Sinnflut” radiates intense drama. As always, this also applies to this work: everyone can and should form their own opinion and intention when looking at it.

One interpretation: the dominant black surfaces create a dark, almost threatening atmosphere. The glossy black with the texture of grooves, scores and notches reflects the surroundings and their colors depending on the incidence of light and viewing angle. The red and blue accents – the background that reappears by exposing the underlying layers of paint – bring an expressive dynamic into play.

The structure of the paint applications – in particular the grooves, scratches, incisions and impasto layers – reinforce the impression of destruction or dissolution, but also of a new beginning. A cool white-black zone contrasts in the lower area.
