Singing our hearts out
While I was doing this painting
I was remembering a day a long long time ago
When time still went slow and
You had nothing to pay
Dreams were many
And everything a penny
I loved singing in the school choir
My blind teacher was my responsibility
I had to escort her to the best of my ability
On a peticular day I went to fetch her
When the following occur
She asked me for her books
And I had confused looks
(Not that she could see it.)
I said I had no clue
She went off and said: I gave them to you!
It was in front of all the big boys
She threw her toys.
My heart was breaking
And as I walked off
A big boy called Kobus stretched out a sympathetic hand
And my tears flow like raindrops in the sand
I will never forget that day and the way he cared
And how it was shared
Varnished and framed. Ready to dispatch.
Acrylic and canvas on hardboard
