Like a shoal of small silver fish, the water drifts up the sand at the Bay of Skaill on Orkney. The mood is calm, the water deep blue and teal and the only sound is of water tumbling up the beach.
A long exposure of the water at the Bay of Skaill on Orkney mainland. Orkney is an archipelago of islands off the East coast of Scotland. It is an island with fabulous history, tales of vikings and the most ancient of homes sits just along the beach at Skara Brae. The settlement of small houses built beside the beach is over 8000 years old and is a wonder to see. This place has such a depth of emotional connection for anyone who loves the sea and the history of these islands.
The print is 70 x 40 inches, unframed, it sits beautifully in the space above a bed or a sofa. It requires stretching over a frame by a framer.
I photograph and print every image, I do not outsource any part of my workflow. Each canvas has been painstakingly crafted to ensure the true colours, resolution and texture are exactly as they should be.
