Original artwork description:

This painting of a silver birch tree in autumn was the first of a series of birch tree paintings I'm still working on.
One autumn morning while I was out walking my dog I was struck by the light sparkling on a tall silver birch tree. I started to look harder at these trees and realized how beautiful and elegant they are - a very good reason why they are also known as "Ladies of the Wood". The sky is gently graded from light to a slightly deeper blue at the top, while the autumn leaves are speckled with gold.
