Original artwork description:

I painted the egret on a long horizontal canvas to maximise the effect of the birds flying pose. All the canvas is taken up with the bird. I have made the background slightly mottled - making it seem like the sky.

This is a calm painting, I have used soft colours. The painting is a celebration of flight, there are no hidden messages, just pure joy.

I paint a lot of birds, but was very taken with the shape of the egret in flight. The beauty of the enormous wing span, and the ergonomic design of the feet I found particularly pleasing.
