Original artwork description:

This is one of a series of abstract beach landscapes that I enjoyed doing over the last few years. I love to play with the visual boundaries between 2D and 3D imagery, using a line to suggest the horizon but then adding form in a way that can either suggest distance in a landscape or a flat, abstract surface. In this piece, an image of a seashell is collaged into the image of a wave with the colors of a stormy Atlantic ocean. I find that this painting, like the ocean, the image has both calming and energizing qualities. It is signed and dated on the back.

Materials used:

acrylic paint, paper, pastel
