Derry City is the only completely intact walled city in Ireland and one of the finest examples of Walled Cities in Europe. The walls are incredibly thick and are just a mile in length, that’s 1.5 km. The stones are a greyish/bluish green and in excellent condition. Shipquay Gate is the gate nearest the River Foyle and looks out towards the Guildhall.
