This is an original handmade linocut print. Available in an edition of 10.
It is printed with Caligo Safe Wash oil paint in 12 layers.
Image size: 29 x 29 cm.
Paper size: 35 x 35 cm.
The print is supplied without a frame.
I spent more than two months designing and printing.
My inspiration comes from the style of William Morris who, in my opinion, made beautiful prints. It is an Art Nouveau style.
My studio is in a rural area, and I hear the sheep, horses and goats when I am painting.
I love animals and that's why I like to paint them.
This is a varied edition. Each print is printed by hand and is slightly different. With sheep, it is mainly the coat that is different for each sheep.
I may have used the roller slightly differently or mixed a color slightly differently. Therefore, when making a choice, it is useful to select the edition, which will show you the enlarged photo.
It is a reduced lino print, in the sense that more lino is cut away for each of the color layers. Once I have completed a layer and started cutting into the lino there is no turning back and no mistakes can be corrected or changes made so a lot of care and planning is required. This image has 12 cutting and printing layers.
I posted a video of the process on YouTube.
