Nineteen multi-coloured rectangular tubes are hung from a strong thin thread, in an elaborate way that offers several degrees of freedom. The tubes can move and rotate with the slightest air currents, making the artwork responsive to movement in space. Thus, the work ‘socializes’ with the presence of people in the room, while it can stay still when no life exists around.

The best location seems to be close to a window or anywhere there is some traffic by people and smooth air currents are present (indoors of course!).

Materials:
After long experimentation with different materials, I have come to the conclusion that high-quality paper is the best for the hanging tubes. It has a smooth matt surface that does not reflect light as it rotates and it is light enough to spin with air currents. Moreover, it makes the artwork easy to handle as it keeps its weight very low.
Other materials will just add a lot of weight, making the work hard to handle, and hard to respond to air movements.
The acid-free, high-quality paper is indeed a very durable material, as long as you do not squeeze it or apply sharp objects on it. That is the case with many other artworks anyway, like paintings on canvas...
However, inside each tube, there is an extra layer of folded paper that prevents squeezing and offers other mechanical advantages to the overall construction.
The frame of the artwork is made of high-quality plywood, treated with durable, scratch-resistant, and non-yellowing polyurethane paint. Thus, it makes a solid case for the elegant tubes inside.
