Santa Catalina Island in Southern California offers great camping, hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking and jeep eco-tours in a protected wilderness. I discovered that it also offers an incredible setting for painting, reflecting the tranquility of the back side of Catalina Island, with Shark Harbor in the foreground, known for its beautiful landscape, unspoiled terrain and clean beaches. Warm, soft afternoon light glows across the hills and rolling waves. Two sailboats further the story and offer scale to the scene.

Materials:
Oil on Oil Primed natural linen canvas. Linen is not pumiced, for a unique, nubby, non-uniform finish. Solid pine stretcher bars 3/4"D x 2.17"W. Canvas is first stretched and back-stapled, then primed for a drum-tight surface. Oil primed surface is specifically designed to provide beautiful results with oil paints. Painting surface is protected with a coat of Gamvar varnish.

The painting is unframed, wired in the back on stretcher bars, and ready to hang.
