His colours are red and white and his energies are fierce and percussive. ‘Shango’ is also a dance related to the Shango cult. The painting tries to capture the energy and spirit of frenetic dance and expression of movement. In this respect every brushstroke, every smear, every drag, every splash is instinctive, gestural and explosive. It is joyful and expressive in its composition.
