Extended title: "The shadows of the chestnut trees"
In my opinion, the chestnut tree is the tree that best represents the forest.
There is something magical about the buds that sprout from the fruit just lying on the ground. And the old chestnut trees, hundreds of years old, look like ancient shamans with a thousand secrets to reveal. In autumn, the leaves of the chestnut trees have such beautiful colours that my artist's palette envies them. And in winter, as the sun sets, the chestnuts cast long, leaden shadows that cut across the path at right angles.
This painting tells of the stroboscopic rhythm of their shadows that my face meets on the path. Light - shadow, warm - cold, sun - chestnut trees. In the warm embrace of nature.
This painting was done in the studio in August 2023. It is the result of several studies done en plein air.
The work is painted in oil on rough paper, then applied on 100% linen canvas mounted on a fixed fir frame made to measure by the artist.
The signature is in the lower right corner.
The painting is protected with a layer of satin acrylic varnish.
The work is delivered with a thin wooden frame to protect the edges. It is ready to hang.
The work is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity signed by the artist.
The title "The Shadows of the Chestnut Trees" is a literal translation of the original Italian title "Le ombre dei castagni".
