Original artwork description:

The painting Shadows is made on reinforced plywood using recycled materials and painted with acrylic.

Volumetric shadows are not merely traces left by light; they acquire a tangible presence, becoming something more than just a projection. No longer secondary to the object that casts them, they exist as independent elements that can be seen, touched, and felt. This transformation turns shadows from ephemeral and fleeting occurrences into something stable and enduring. However, the fact that both the shadows and the background share the same color blurs the boundaries between these elements, emphasizing illusion and the interdependence of forms.
The use of papier-mâché is a meticulous, slow process, linked to the idea of creating something solid and lasting from a fragile, secondary material. It speaks to transformation—how something seemingly insignificant and transient can take shape, become stable, and gain meaning.
