Original artwork description:

Shades of Summer - a signed oil painting on panel board. The work is textured compiling multiple layers of paint to create a textured and tangible effect. Having used both the brush and a palette knife a balance between rough and smooth. The large deliberately naïve blooms dominate toward the front and the tones and colours merge into the distance.

Originally starting as a still life painter my work has evolved to include more impressionistic and suggestive brush work. The idea is that this artwork must inspire the feeling of the various shades of summer rather than a specific object. If you see the essence of the season in the work then I would feel that the objective has been achieved.
