Original artwork description:

This is a larger version of a smaller oil sketch I painted a few weeks ago. I really liked the composition of the lighting and buildings and so wanted to work it up into a larger piece. In the larger version, I have used thicker paint and a slightly more structured composition. The scene is early evening in Covent Garden, just as restaurants are setting up for dinner. The ever-full Punch and Judy pub was full of post-work drinkers.

This is framed in a very dark grey frame with a pale grey slip and a gold leaf beading. The painting is currently hanging in the Fox and Grapes restaurant on Wimbledon Common.

Materials used:

Oil paint on linen canvas
