Original artwork description:

This painting explores observing a still life of a Serpentinite rock collected from walking around Paphos in Cyprus. The rock was set up as a still life and through observing the movement of light and shadows throughout painting it, forms and shapes where recorded in paint.

The rock is known for being used in sculpture and is found plentiful in Cyprus. The green colour intermingles with areas of burgundy within the rock, forming a beautiful surface to draw inspiration.

Painting the light and shadows bring forth various forms and shapes, creating a resonance to the cave paintings seen around the world and abstract expressionist painting, appearing to bring forth a varied tapesty of imagery projected from within the viewer's mind.
