I have a sculptor approach to painting. What can i do with this material which change state from fluidity in a pot to being dry and solid on canvas ? What happen in between when spread on a flat plan, is what interest me. Through a process i create an image rather than starting from the idea of an image. I trust material and frontality to always enter the field of "representation". So the sheer presence of the painting is often overwhelming because there is no conflict between the medium the technique used and the image it creates. . I used lacquer paint for its slow drying quality which allow me to works with multiples layers of still fresh paint. The surface is then thin and extra smooth with here and there shallow waves of thicker paint. In an amazing way it suggest photography.
Acryl paint, canvas, wooden strecher, light varnish, string.
