In this piece, I aimed to capture the serenity and peace I feel as sit in the Dunes and watch the morning tide lapping the sands.
The palette I chose, is soft and calming and reflects the shades of the sands, seashells and coral.
I study the coastal skies over North Wales and also the Cheshire hills, close to my home.
My paintings are often inspired by my love and fascination with ever-changing skies and cloud formation. I try to capture the movement and mood of the skies and sea - Calm and dreamy, to dramatic and surreal.
The sky's layers and ripples in the incoming tide, are developed by forming texture through layering and blending the oil paint, building depth, movement and highlights.
