‘Sense of Place I’ is a mixed media collage/assemblage presented in a glazed, soft wood box frame. It is made using textured papers, tissue paper, canvas fabric, thread and acrylic paint. The image also includes a photograph transfer, a luggage label and collected natural objects arranged across the collaged surface.
‘Sense of Place I’ is one of a series of assemblages made in response to coastal environments visited. The artwork is inspired by observations made from a walk along a coastal path. The work is intended as a celebration of the natural changes and inherent qualities of the coastline and aims to capture and raise awareness of what surrounds us in the natural world.
The image is 30cm x 30 cm, with the framed size at 36cm x 36cm. The box depth is 3.5cm.
