Original artwork description:

This painting is a small nude study of the artist created around the same time as the legless painting.

These small studies were created exploring the composition and mark-making which would be used later in the larger legless painting and was also a study to go with the painting of Eve also on this site.

The diptych was to be called 'Overture to Expulsion' and part of a series with the painting 'Prelude to Expulsion' which is doing the rounds in UK auctions. The premise for the piece was the awareness of nakedness but in this case not being ashamed of nakedness - something I never understood in the Biblical story, where by the tale tells of Adam and Eve's shamefulness of becoming aware and then ashamed of their naked bodies.

This image has a limited palette of colour and was also a study in form using bold brush marks.
