Painting a self-portrait is more complicated than you might think. We simply have to paint a portrait, but since this is our own portrait, we should not think while painting that it is our own portrait. Our own portrait is not like what we know from the mirror, so it’s a bit foreign to us. From the mirror, we see our reflection. And the photo reverses what we know.
The self-portrait is about acceptance and abstraction from ourselves.

In recent years, I have used OSB as a basis. By retracting the paint layers, I use the texture of the veneer as part of my compositions to create a unique rustic industrial atmosphere. This is recycled art.
The painting is made with self-made paint, which basically consists of pigments and beeswax. Does not contain oil or other paints.

The procedure itself dates back to antiquity and has been known for thousands of years. Only few artists around the world work with wax on its own.
Artworks made with encaustic are characterized by bright color and silky light. Thanks to the well-preserving properties of the wax, the colors do not fade over time and retain their liveliness.

This work will be delivered with Care Instruction of my encaustic paintings and a signed certificate of authenticity. Carefully packaged and tracked shipping. I ship this work in cardboard boxes careful wrapped in bubble foil and protect the painting with cardboard. If you like my paintings you can have a piece of art for your beloved place.
