This mixed media painting and drawing was done as my entry for the Sky Portrait Artist of the Year 2014 competition. I am very happy to say that I was chosen to take part in the Edinburgh Heat of the competition and had a great time although my timed portrait was a great disappointment to me! The timed aspect really makes the process a lot more pressured and difficult for me as my works are usually slowly built up over time. This piece is painted in Acrylic Paint and then drawn over using Ink to define the details and shades. It is a process that I stumbled on through experimenting with mixing mediums. It started with my frustration at pencil and charcoal drawings being easily erased whilst drawing and later easily fading. I decided to use Ink because of the permanence it affords and how drawings can be built up in layers. I had also stopped using an eraser when drawing and liked to do looser more sketchy drawings that still have all the marks evident. This is one of a number of different mediums I enjoy using because of the different visual effects that can be achieved.
A note to International Buyers:
Shipping rates have increased in price all around the world due to Covid and other complications. Due to this I have had to increase the the cost of shipping my artworks in line with the Delivery Companies. I will always strive to find the cheapest possible option for the customer (usually my local POST OFFICE EMS Recorded Delivery, but unfortunately they don’t deliver worldwide at the moment) If the amount of shipping charged at purchase is less than the shipping company charges then I will refund the difference to the customer. This refund will be done after the picture has arrived safely and has been accepted.
Any import duties, taxes and charges that may be payable are not included in the item price or shipping cost. These charges, if applicable, will be the responsibility of the buyer. Please message me to check if this might affect your purchase.
