As a child of the 60s, it was thrilling to watch the first James Bond movies. It was important to me to develop the straight on seriousness of the iconic James Bond but with a twist. Over the top colors, and strong brush work create a pseudo-pop art image. Orange hues paired with their direct complementary color, blue, deconstruct the seriousness of the image, endowing it with the characteristics of a pop art portrait. "Sean 007" has a loose brush stroke, gestural painterly style. The use of circles in the background are taken directly from "Dr. No". The circles represent the graphic design happening in the 60s. It was important to me to maintain the retro look in "Sean 007".
Oil on gallery wrapped stretched canvas. Edges are painted and the work may be hung straight out of the box or framed.
