Artwork description:

This artwork is made up of 4 ink illustrations I combined digitally, depicting a mystical tale in Scottish mythology about the Storm Kelpies, also known as The Blue Men of the Minch. Legend has it that they would occasionally prey on sailors making the crossing between the Island of Lewis and the Shiant Isles in the 19th century as ‘the stream of the Blue Men’ because it was said to be inhabited by a strange group of creatures.

This illustration is the first in a selection of Scottish Storytelling folklore artworks.

Materials used:

drawn inks and then printed on Hahnemühle German Etch 310gsm
