This painting is called Sea Light. The afternoon sun at the coast lighting up the sea surface and creating a wonderful effect. The effect was enhanced by the greying sky. This was a challenging painting to paint plein-air as the waves constantly move and over a few hours the light changed too. I think I managed to capture it quite well. I must admit I tend to see subtle colours in the rocks trying to capture the reflections and light by painting them bluey not brown and grey. This definitely an impressionistic painting. I really like painting plein-air as I find painting from photographs takes away the freshness of the finished painting and you lose the depth of colours too.
