These 14 x 9cm landscape studies are inspired by journeys around the Somerset landscape on my bicycle during this year so far. A series of work that follows the Sun at various stages in the day. I love to lose myself in the landscape, cycling along the lanes, getting lost, and finding hidden places in the local region. There is so much to see right on my doorstep that will keep me engaged in painting these images for many years, revealing the beauty of the Somerset landscape.

An amalgamation of many plein air views and memories, forming an expressive landscape inspired by artists like Turner, Mitchell, Hoffman, Frankenthaler, Monet, Poussin, Gainsborough, Lanyon, Modernists and more.

Some of these will be developed into larger expressive paintings over the coming months in oil paint.
