Carefree and relaxed this piece evokes the feeling of an idyllic Saturday afternoon. A palette of blues, teals, greens and browns reminiscent of a day in the park by a pond, lying on a blanket staring at the clear blue sky and the surrounding trees and water. Every time I look at this piece, I go there. It's my "escape to the weekend" on a hectic weekday!

36 x 36, acrylic and oil pastel on canvas. UV-protected with a Satin Varnish. The sides are painted black. Wired in the back for easy hanging.

My technique involves starting with multiple layers of paint using a variety of tools and brushes that create a wide range of shapes, forms and lines. Upon starting, I paint intuitively and quickly. Nearing the end, everything slows down and I begin the process of discernment, carefully analyzing changes in value and composition until I am happy with the final painting.
