Painted on-site at the Peony Garden of the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum. Features a trio of peony flowers of the variety named "Sarah Bernhardt". The flowers are painted in shades of bright "bubble gum" pink, with highlights of pale pink and white, and shades of deep red, burgundy, and mauve in the shadows. Running and dripping texture in the background is created with water-based casein paint and glazed over with oil for a unique visual texture. Painted with both brush and palette knife. Thick paint shaped by the palette knife enhances the texture and impact of the flower petals, making them "pop".
