We visited Santa Monica a few weeks ago on a clear spring day and I was able to get a several interesting photos to work on; this is the first in a series of paintings I am planning to make from these images..a combination of coastal fog and LA smog obscures the Santa Monica mountains; there are interesting contrasts between warm and cold colors in this painting, the inland breeze is implied by the billowing beach umbrella.
