Original artwork description:
This is Sandy and she is one of my four paperclay dog sculptures created to celebrate our handsome hounds in their dotage, I think when dogs start to go grey around the muzzle they take on a beautiful gentle and wise appearance which I wanted to capture.
Sandy measures H11 x W9 x D9 inches she has been painted with acrylic paints and sealed with glaze, her eyes and nose are bought to life with gloss garnish.
My sculptures are made from my own recipe paper clay, the advantages over ceramic is that they have a unique texture which gives the surface an appealing organic nature, they are also lightweight and strong so travel well in the post!
