Original artwork description:

A large, almost panoramic view over the sands towards Sandsend from Whitby.

I painted this view of the beach at Whitby a few months ago, but wasn't happy with it. In the end I realized it needed people in it but still need to feel 'empty'. After a lot of deliberation I added the small figures at the far side of the beach. I hope it still feels like a place you would go to for solitude, but I think the figures give a sense of scale?

It's on a deep edged 'gallery wrap' canvas, so it doesn't need a frame.

Materials used:

Acrylic on deep edge canvas
